Women's empowerment is seen as one of the primary concerns in today's academic community when discussing gender equality, social justice, economic progress, and poverty. The third Millennium Development Goal (MDG) also seeks to empower women and advance gender equality. This study makes a comparative analysis of the effects of 73rd Constitutional Amendment Act of reserving seats for women of different caste groups of Gram Panchayats in Chowai, kullu, Himachal Pradesh, India. Panchyati Raj institutions have long been seen as a tool to achieve good governance, and the 73rd Amendment to the Constitution was implemented with the intention of improving governance and giving women and other marginalized groups in society more political clout. The goal of the current study was to determine the level of involvement and issues faced by women elected to Panchayat positions. Sample consisted of 40 women elected representatives from Chowai Panchayat, kullu, Himachal Pradesh. Purposive sampling technique was adopted for selecting the sample from different wards. An interview schedule served as the information gathering instrument. In order to demonstrate how the female component has gained influence since the momentous 73rd Amendment, this article will examine the situation of women in rural politics in Chowai, Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. It will also shed light on the obstacles that prevent women from participating in rural politics. Additionally, this paper will provide some corrective actions to address issues. Even though women are the center of civilization rather than all of humanity, they are nonetheless marginalized and denied their fundamental rights in every society.
