Abstract:

This study investigates the transformative impact of global diasporic movements on the societal recognition and acceptance of Third Gender identities in the 21st century. Focusing on non-binary individuals in various diasporic settings, the research explores how migration and cross-cultural exchange influence legal, social, and cultural perceptions of gender. The interaction between diasporic populations and host societies often leads to cultural hybridization, resulting in the emergence and validation of diverse gender identities. Against the backdrop of colonial legacies and evolving gender discourses, this study examines how diasporic presence reshapes norms and facilitates greater inclusivity. Utilizing Correlation Analysis, the research evaluates the relationship between the size of diasporic populations and the extent of legal and societal acceptance of Third Gender identities across selected countries. A comparative cross-national framework is adopted, drawing on secondary data including legal documents, sociocultural literature, and documented case studies. The findings indicate that countries with substantial diasporic communities tend to exhibit more progressive attitudes toward non-binary individuals, suggesting that diasporic engagement acts as a catalyst for broader social and legal recognition. This study contributes to scholarship in gender studies, migration, and human rights by highlighting the intersectional dynamics between diaspora and gender identity formation. It offers new insights into how transnational experiences foster inclusive practices and challenge traditional gender binaries in contemporary societies.
