Exploring culturally responsive pedagogy in teaching English

Author(s):

Zahraa Satar Jabar

Abstract:

The incorporation of culturally responsive pedagogy (CRP) in English as a second language instruction is examined in this research. Given that students come from a variety of cultural backgrounds, the study emphasizes how crucial it is to modify teaching methods to provide an inclusive learning environment. Through a review of current literature and case studies, the report investigates how CRP encourages student participation, promotes equality, and improves academic achievement. There is a discussion of the essential elements of CRP, including fostering connections, using culturally appropriate materials, and elevating student voices. The findings imply that integrating CRP not only improves the educational experience but also empowers students to integrate their cultural identities with language acquisition. This investigation emphasizes how important it is for teachers to embrace CRP concepts to develop more dynamic and adaptable English language curricula.
